What a hilarious name. Swine Flu. I remember a few years ago at a family dinner with my parents, my sister burped at the dinner table. My Dad called her a swine. To this day i crack up every time i hear that word… Swine… LOL

Anyway, how are all you swines doing? I wonder if i load this post up with the word swine, if it will achieve a top search engine ranking. For those of you who aren’t familiar, there is something called SEO or Search Engine Optimization. SEO determines your websites ranking within search engine results. It’s based on many factors, one of those being relevant keywords.

For instance, if someone does a google search for swine flu, google will search it’s database of all indexed web pages across the net. Those that have the most relevant keywords compared to the search terms are listed first. Keyword density is another aspect. So if i have a relevant article that has the keywords “swine”, “flu”, and “swine flu”, listed several times throughout the article, my article will get a higher placement.

But you can also be to dense. This is called keyword spamming. So if i did something like this:

That would be considered keyword spamming and you could get penalized giving you a lower ranking. Or, if you’re lucky, google will see past the spam and rank you even higher. So in about a week, google swine flu and see if this comes up. I imagine it will rank nowhere near the top.

Anyway, enough of SEO and swine flu. We had a crazy day at the shop today. Lot’s of stuff going on. We are redoing our available exotics page. Bear with us while it looks like crap. I have 7 demos this weekend, so i’m not sure how much i will get to work on it. We will make sure it’s done within a few days.

What’s up world? Not much here. What a past week. So my sister got married on Saturday. That was an amazing time. She married a Narcotics officer. Nice…

So we have had parties galore and the schedule doesn’t look any lighter for the summer. This is great. Our parties have really taken off. We attended three Earth Day events last week. It’s always fun to bring the animals out for the big events. The crowd never expects to see a giant albino snake chilling at a public outdoor event. Good stuff…

Over the next three weeks, we have 20 demos. We will be attending a mix of schools, scouts, and private parties.

Anyway, we are expecting new animals later in the week. We have quite a few empty cages at the moment. It was one of those weekends. Not real sure on what we are expecting yet. More on that in a couple days.

So, how’s the past week been for you guys? Kinda disappeared there for a sec. We had quite the busy week.

Breeding season is in full swing right now. We will have tons of babies this summer. Right now it seems that we are over run with Bearded Dragons. That’s the funny thing about those guys. You either have a ton or none.

We will be at the Lady of the Snows Shrine this Friday for Earth Day. We will be hanging out at a booth for the day with a bunch of our animals. They are bringing out a bunch of schools to spend the day out there.

Anyway, this weekend will be a busy one for us. A family member is getting married. So that means it’s a party. Good times. And then we have a full week of demos ahead. This is the time of year for school shows.

Hey world.  So April has just been a crazy month for us at the TDI.  It seems that this month has just flown by.  We are already half way through the month.  Crazy.  We have tons of demos in the next month.  It seems we have all sorts of schools booked for the next several weeks.  Awesome!

So we are pretty much done with our party room.  We have a few last minute finishing touches and its ready for a party on Sunday.  Another project done.  Our next project is more snake racks and hatchling racks.

Also known as the “Tanzanian Tailless Whip Scorpion,” the Tanzanian Giant Whip Scorpion is a suitable beginner’s scorpion because of their gentle disposition, yet they are also attractive to experienced owners because they are beautiful and rare.

Tanzanian Giant Whip Scorpions can be skittish, and they also have the ability to move very fast! They are generally docile, but handling them is not recommended, even though they do not possess toxic venom, they will occasionally pinch and because they are fast moving they have been known to escape their owners when held. It is interesting to watch them move, they walk sideways rather than frontward, in a way that much resembles a crab. Adults should be housed in a tank that is at least ten to fifteen gallons. It is important to make sure the tank is both wide and tall to prevent escapes! Keep the temperature around 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity in between 75 to 80%. For substrate, use one to two inches of peat moss, or potting soil and decorate their area with logs or wood, and cork bark. They should have somewhere to hide (within the tank, of course!) and room to climb. They do well on a diet of insects including crickets.

At maturity, the Tanzanian Giant Whip Scorpion will grow to an amazing length of seven and a half inches with legs spread. They do not have tails (hence the nickname). For defense, they will pinch, although they rarely feel the need.

Anyway, this HR669 crap is really stressing me out. I had tried calling the office of the congresswoman in Guam who proposed this ridiculous bill. They freaked out on me. They said that i shouldn’t be calling them, i should be calling a lobbyist group or some shit like that. I told the lady that my American duty was to call her. Anyway, we are heading to PetCo around noon today for some photo opportunities with Aphrodite. We will be using her in part for a fund raiser through PetCo. If any of you are in the area, be sure to stop by and say hello. Just look for the big yellow snake.

For those of you who hadn’t guessed yet, we will be closed tomorrow for Easter. In celebration of Easter, we will be feeding Aphrodite and extra large rabbit. I figured that was an appropriate way for a reptile shop to celebrate.

Our renovation on the party room will be wrapping up this week. It will be ready for a party this next weekend. I can’t wait to be done with all that. Right now we are working on the floor. It is covered with this crappy glue from the carpet that used to be there. We have to scrape all that crap off. Fun fun.

Oh yea, if you haven’t seen it yet, we have a new front counter. But there is one problem, it’s really ugly. So we are covering it with stickers of all types. This gives you all a chance to go down in TDI history. We need more stickers! If anyone has a cool sticker for the counter, bring it up and stick it on. We still have about 50% of the counter to cover up.
