So its coming fast. But i don’t have to tell you all that. I can’t believe it’s almost the new year. What a crazy year 2009 turned out to be. Wow. There were a lot of major improvements at the TDI. Lot’s still to come.
So we have all sorts of deals for Christmas. Ball Pythons are free with a setup. Adult male bearded dragons are $49.99. Baby bearded dragons are free with a setup. Corn snakes are free with a setup. We just got a big shipment of leopard geckos for those of you who are wanting them for Christmas.
We are getting ready to drop our snake room into hibernation. That’s always a nice change of pace. We are also getting ready to fire up our second snake room. We also recently acquired a trio of Rhino Iguanas (Cyclura). This is very exciting for us. You will ultimately see one of these guys on display, although it may be a year before that happens. Right now we are acclimating the animals so that we can ultimately breed them.
Anyway, it’s Saturday. It’s getting busy in here. Time to make it happen. On that note, enjoy the following video:
Yup, mashed potatoes are good. Thanksgiving is in three weeks. That means mashed potatoes.
So things are rolling right along at The TDI. We have been knocking out project after project. We had a few more projects come up that weren’t planned, but that’s always the way it works. Story of our lives.
So we enter November. Crazy. For those of you who are fitness minded, a Club Fitness just opened in the front of our plaza. I know we are all taking advantage of that convenience for sure. The rates are good and the gym is straight forward. No BS. I would suggest you all check it out the next time you are in the shop.
We are currently developing our own line of care sheets. A lot of the care sheets currently online are full of old information. We decided it would be best to take the time and make our own. We’ve started to upload a few of them on the website. We will ultimately have a care sheet for every species in the store. It is a very time consuming process, so bear with us if you don’t see the care sheet you are looking for. On that note, there is no particular order in which we are writing the care sheets. So if you are waiting on a specific care sheet, let us know and we’ll bump it to the top of the list.
So we’ve got some strange and bizarre videos for the evening. We’ll start with ghost busters and finish with a strange mash-up about the universe. Weird…
Some random shit we found the other night. Pretty Entertaining. Not much new at the TDI. We are rolling along on a lot of general improvements. The usual. Enjoy the vids. Until next time…
What’s up world. Been a couple weeks. We’ve had quite a bit of chaos these past few weeks. It all began with the Chicago Reptile show. There were a bunch of us running around up there. I ran into a few of you. I imagine i missed a few of you as well. We picked up some nice new breeder stock. In fact, we’ve got quite a bit going on with the breeding for next year. Here’s our list of animals set to produce for next year:
Jungle Carpet Pythons
Children’s Pythons
Spotted Pythons
Rosy Boas
Red Tail Boas
Hypos Red Tail Boas
Hogg Island Boas
Dumerils Boas
Bearded Dragons
Veiled Chameleons
Carpet Chameleons
Yellow Ackies Monitors
Crested Geckos
Various Corn Snakes
Albino Nelsons Milk Snakes
Gray Banded King Snakes
Honduran Milk Snakes
Brazilian Rainbow Boas
Woma Pythons
Emerald Tree Boas
So yea, we’ve been busy. All of these guys are ready to go. The only ones that may not be ready are the Womas. But we’ll see.
On top of the breeding, we’ve been weather proofing the building for the winter. It’s right around the corner. We are also getting ready to do more modification to the rodent room. Sean and I will be tackling that project beginning this week sometime.
Those of you on our MySpace and FaceBook may have noticed some chatter about a Television show… Well, that one is a long story. Basically there has been some serious interest from the guys in Hollywood. I don’t have any specific details at the moment. As we learn more, we’ll keep all of you posted.
We are also in the process of building a second snake room in our breeding facility. We will have that up and running this week. This will allow us to have one room that we hibernate and one room that is warm year round.
So yea, lots of shit going on as usual. Only so many hours in a day. Anyway, its Monday morning. Lots to do. Until next time, enjoy this short vid.
Remember that word? Suds? I haven’t used that word in a while. Makes me think of a bubble bath.
Anyway, the big Chicago Reptile Show is coming up next weekend? Our crew will be swinging through there on various days throughout the weekend. Let us know if any of you are going to be up there. We can hook up for a beer or two. You never know.
Anyway, we have a couple parties today. One of which is at the shop. Those are always nice. Less travel.
So life has been crazy at the TDI over the past month. I know i haven’t posted anything in a while. The upcoming Reptile Show has been keeping us B-U-S-Y! The response we are getting is overwhelming. We have vendors from around the country wanting to be part of the show. Make sure you all mark your calendar. Here is a direct link to the show website:
Anyway, we brought in a new line of Chameleon Cages. They are the Reptariums by Apogee. We don’t have them listed on the website just as of yet. They are awesome. The are by far the least expensive Chameleon cage on the market. You can get a 260 gallon cage for $99.99! Waterland tubs are the next big item to bring into the shop. Keep your eyes open for that.
We are expecting new animals this week. It’s to early in the week to say for sure what we are expecting. More on that in a few days.
So we will be at Salute to Scott tomorrow at the O’Fallon Park. We will be setup next to Harley Davidson. If you’ve never been, you should swing out there. There is all sorts of free food and beverages all day long. You can find out more by clicking here.
We started construction on the new tegu cage. It should be done sometime next week. After that’s completed, we will be bringing some new caging into the store. We are going to begin stocking Waterland tubs for turtles and tortoises. We will also bring in the Apogee Reptariums for chameleons. The reptariums don’t look as nice as the aluminum screen cages, but they are half the price. So they make a great option for Chameleon setups on a budget.
So i don’t have much in the way of an interesting post. Here’s some cool vids.
So have you ever heard about those people who eat crayons? They have some sort of thing going on upstairs and it makes them eat crayons. Interesting…
Anyway, happy Saturday everyone! We have several parties today. Good times. We were at the Goddard School in Shiloh yesterday. That was tons of fun. We worked with about 80 preschool age kids. Doing that is like going into a time machine. It’s so cool.
Speaking of time machines, i was watching Back to the Future 2 the other night. Old school. I don’t think the second movie got very much credit. It was totally weird. If you don’t remember it, you should watch it.
Sooooo, we are now shipping Waterland tubs through the website. They are an awesome way to house multiple or large water turtles. We will be bringing them into the shop some time this summer. We are going to use one for our red ear sliders. I think they’ll really like one of those.
So, now some entertainment. How about a glimpse into video gaming future?
Wow. So that was a crazy week. The last three weeks have been intense for me. I don’t think i’ve been at the shop to much. Right before schwag we had like 10 parties in a week. Then it was schwag time. Then right when i got back, i had 14 shows in the following week. I’m finishing the last show today. So it’s been crazy. That’s why there haven’t been any blog entries lately.
But, i’m back now. So it’s summer time. We have a lot going on at the TDI. Lot’s of eggs being laid and lots of eggs hatching. Next week we will be downgrading all of our heating in our breeding facility. It’s starting to get a bit warm over there with the warmer weather moving in. It will also save our electric bill a bit.
We got some new animals in right before the weekend. Mostly restock. We got some really nice little red foot tortoises in stock. They are right at the legal limit. So they are nice and small for those of you looking for some little red foots.
So, time for a little Sunday morning entertainment. This one made me smile this morning.
